ECA Rally to Poole Harbour
ECA Rally to Poole 13th to 18th August via Yarmouth.
Urgent request for an OOD for this rally. Please read the note by Brian our Rear Commodore (Cruising) at end of this posting.
Thursday 13th August. HW EYH 12.42, 4,8m
Leave EYH for Yarmouth approx. 11.30 - arrive Yarmouth approx. 17.30.
We are booked to eat in the The Bugle at 18:30. The menu can be found at: The Bugle - Menu. We will need to pre-order 5 days in advance. There is a separate ticket to book this meal.
Friday 14th August.
Leave Yarmouth approx. 12.00 to catch slack water at Hurst and have the benefit of a westerly going tide to Poole Town Quay. Arrive approx. 17.00. Pontoon party 18.30. Eat on board or in one of many restaurants in the town.
Saturday 15th August.
A number of possibilities for fun trips by bus. If the sun is shining, Studland Beach or Bournemouth Beach, then of course Swanage and a steam train ride to Corfe Castle, another visit to Brownsea Island or a short train ride to Wareham and then local service 200 bus to RSPB Arne Nature Reserve.
We are now eating in Rock Fish on Poole Quay and not at the RNLI. We are eating at 17:30 as the only other slot available was 20:15 which we thought a bit late. As we will need to pre-order there is a separate ticket to book this meal. The Rockfish menu can be found at: Rockfish Poole - Menu
Sunday 16th August.
A tour of the RNLI's facilities is booked for 11.00am. We are on the Discovery Tour, details of which can be found at RNLI Tours in Poole, Dorset. There are 12 places booked and it lasts for 90mins and costs £10.00 per person. As there are so few places those booking early will get the available slots.
We are eating in Oriel on the Quay in the evening at 18:00. This is just a short walk from the marina and very nice. We will need a pre-order 5 days in advance and a deposit of £5 per head payable immediately. There is a separate ticket to book this meal. Monday 17th August.
Leave Poole at approx. 12.00 to make Hurst by 16.30 and Yarmouth by 17.00. Eat on board or at a local hostelry.
Tuesday 18th August
Leave Yarmouth 9.30 to 10.00 for EYH. HW EYH is 16.18.

Participating Skippers are reminded that all ECA rallies and events are carried out under rule 22 of the Emsworth Cruising Association Rules as published in the ECA Yearbook.
Participation in an ECA Rally or event is taken as acknowledgement and understanding of this rule.
The ECA draws to the attention of skippers and crew attending, that full responsibility for sea worthiness of boats and experience of crew attending is held with the skipper of the boat sailing to the rally. All information given should be checked before setting out.

Most of the work is done for this rally, however it would be great if the OOD can firm up any ideas for an alternative place to eat on Sat. 15th, put a bit more organisation into possible trips on the 15th and maybe book in eating places in Yarmouth and Poole for those who want to eat out. I'm happy to assist in these areas.
