A word from the new Commodore

Published 13:20 on 26 Oct 2022

As the newly elected Commodore of the ECA, I just wanted to say a few words of introduction. Most of you will already know me and may also know that I was the Membership Secretary prior to Jane taking over the role. I have been an active member for nearly 10 years and am a regular attendee on rallies.

We continue to be fortunate in having members who volunteer for the various roles on the Committee, especially those who have done so for many years and in the various roles. I would like to thank Andrew Lane for being a commendable Commodore over the past two years and I know I can count on his advice as I settle into my new role. I look forward to working with the Committee during my tenure and would like to welcome the other members who assumed roles at the AGM last weekend. Neil has already put together a calendar of events for 2023 and found that several marinas already have their weekends fairly booked up next year. The rallies represent the major part of our activities, but in order for them to run, we need members to volunteer to be Officers of The day (OOD). We have mostly been reliant on the same people undertaking this role, but it is only fair that others take it on occasionally to even the load, so please consider doing so.

I look forward to seeing some of you at the Chichester rally at the weekend and I would like to thank Ray and Caroline for acting as OOD. We then have the Speakers Meeting on 19th November and the Christmas Lunch on 17th December, both of which tend to be well attended events. Watch out for further details being published. I will be attending them both, so I hope to see you there.
