Beaulieu Rally

The Water Authorities were really having a laugh back in March, declaring all those drought regions. For the three ECA boats that made it to Beaulieu (Badgie Two, Windsong and Gabriel), we were in the kind words of our absent Commodore (Tringa II hors de combat) ‘entering the flood alert red zone’. The rain was indeed of Biblical
proportions, but Badgie Two doubled up as a very welcome Noahs Ark, with
Derek kindly offering drinks to all on arrival. We may have been only three boats, but
we managed a cosy eleven (plus dog) for drinks and nibbles on Windsong before
a meal ashore in the Master Builders Pub. After torrential rain at dawn, Sunday
turned out to be a remarkably nice day. We all enjoyed a pleasant sail home in
light winds and something sadly absent this summer, sunshine.
