Joint EYH/ECA Cruise to Bembridge
Please see below details of the joint cruise with EYH on the bank holiday of the 4th to 6th May.
If you are interested in coming then please complete and submit the form at the end of these details, or see Lorna in the EYH harbour office. If you could register as soon as possible on the form below then that will help in making reservations and planning. If you leave it too late we may not be able to accommodate you as it will be a busy bank holiday weekend on the water and Bembridge is likely to be full. A small deposit will be required in advance, please see the itinerary for details.
As you can see the tides are after midday over this weekend and it will be a Spring tide on bank holiday Monday, so leaving from Emsworth should not be a problem. If you have a 1.5m draft you should be able to get out around 11:00 (~HW EYH -1.5). On the return for a 1.5m draft, departure from Bembridge will likely be around 10:00 – 10:30 (HW EYH -3.5 to -3).

Saturday 4th May
Arrive Bembridge (Contact harbour staff on Ch 80 on arrival for berthing instructions, you will have been booked in).
18:30 Walk around the causeway to BHYC (Unlikely to be any water for the water taxi)
18:45 meet in BHYC bar for pre-meal drinks
19:30 meal in BHYC (Please complete your menu choices on the rally form).
Sunday 5th May
Walk around Brading Marsh, starting from The Duver at ~10:00 (subject to weather). The walk is a total of around 10 Km or 6 miles and will be a little hilly. If this is a bit daunting then it is half that distance to the lunch stop, where a Taxi can be arranged back to The Duver. Let me know if this will be required. (For those that came on last year’s walk it is probably about the same distance but not quite as hilly)
The walk itself will go up into St Helen’s via the footpath then through St Helen’s and down the other side to pick up the footpath into Brading Marsh. Following the footpath we will divert off at Brading for a lunch in The Auctioneer (www.theauctioneerwinebar.co.uk), a really lovely Tudor Rectory Mansion with courtyard, close to the church. Lunch is planned for 12:30. Please complete your lunch choices on the rally form. It will cost a fixed £20 per head for a smashing 3 course light lunch. (We have exclusive use of the place and this is a special showcase deal). After lunch it will be back to the footpath to continue on past the airport and up past the windmill before heading back down through Bembridge to get the water taxi from the beach by the Tollgate Café.
In the evening starting 18:30 there will be drinks and nibbles provided by EYH, followed by a BBQ in the Bembridge Harbour Marquee (by the harbour office). Attendees to bring their own BBQ food (and additional drinks).
Monday 6th May
As HW is early afternoon then most boats who need to be back will be leaving Bembridge at around 10:00 to 10:30 to get back to EYH for HW. If you do not need to be back then see the OOD for options for onward sailing.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the cruise Officer Of The Day (OOD), Neil Fuller (firstname.lastname@example.org) (yacht Koto) if you have any questions.
