ECA August Bank Holiday Rally to Marchwood YC
25/08 – 26/08/18
Please see below this year’s August Bank holiday rally to Marchwood Yacht Club which is situated at the top of Southampton water just a short distance from the New Forest.
If you are interested in coming then please complete and submit the form at the end of these details. If you could register as soon as possible it will help in making reservations and planning.
Berths have been reserved for Saturday night with the possible option of also Sunday night for those that which to stay longer.
The club has limited walk ashore pontoon mooring facilities, which are accessible at all states of the tide. Those with deeper keels should go on the outside of the outer pontoon. Others can go on the inside of the outer pontoon or outside of the inner. When approaching or leaving the pontoons stay to the east of the port channel buoys and the moorings. The temptation is to cut off the corners, but there are several mud banks to the south of the pontoons to catch you out.
Marchwood charge £10 per boat per night regardless of length/size.
Details for Marchwood YC visitors are on:
As you can see the tides are at lunchtime over this weekend and moving from neaps to springs so those leaving from Emsworth with a 1.5m draft will probably not depart much before 10:30 (HW -1.5). The approximate distance is 28 miles and at 5kts should take 5 1/2 hours. For those who complete the passage in one you will be pushing the ebb in Southampton water. The other options are to anchor in Osborne bay or go alongside in Cowes for lunch to let the ebb decrease and commence the passage up Southampton water around 15:00.Departure from Marchwood back to Emsworth on the Sunday will likely be around 07:30 or on the Monday 08:30.
