August Bank Holiday Rally to Hythe – August Sat 27th to Mon 29th

Apologies if you have already received this posting but I am reposting as many did not receive this.

Hi all, notification of the Hythe Rally as I need to firm up boat numbers as soon as possible as there are limited spaces at Hythe. If you could register your interest as soon as possible please.

OOD: Neil Fuller (Koto)

Saturday 27th August

Early morning tide and neaps so depart on high tide from EYH (should be about 1.4m over the sill depending on atmospherics so could be tight for some).

We are booked into Hythe Marina on Southampton Water on the Saturday and Sunday nights. Access to Hythe is 24 hours via lock so you can turn up any time. There is a waiting pontoon outside the lock and free flow lights (which I don’t think many of us will trouble). There is a long HW stand at neaps in Southampton Water.

Drinks and nibbles on Koto from 18:30 on with a meal be booked at the Boathouse Restaurant for 19:30. The menu choices available are available at http://www.boathousehythe.co.uk/#!eat/fepf4 and is the evening menu.

Sunday 28th August

Free day. Lots of walks in and around Hythe. We did the walk to Beaulieu last time and it’s not for the faint hearted (about 8km each way, unfortunately no bus service on Sundays). There is the regular Hythe ferry to Southampton for those who want to shop or visit the historic walls/museums etc.

If anyone is interested there are a couple of Southampton guided tours you could get yourselves booked onto; 11:00-12:30 Walk the Walls @ £5 per head (https://tudorhouseandgarden.com/planning-your-visit/explore-old-town/guided-walks/ ), and 14:00-16:00 Tour and Tea at the Tudor House @ £7.50 (https://tudorhouseandgarden.com/event/tour-and-tea-at-tudor-house-10/ ). You will need to book yourselves on them.

Reconvene at 18:00 on Koto for usual drinks and nibbles. We are proposing everyone chip in components for the evening meal which we can also host on Koto.

Monday 29th August

High Water is very late evening so a leisurely start and sail in the Solent and back to home berths is the order of the day.
