Friday 16th September HW Portsmouth BST 11.50 (4.8m)
It’s a reasonable 10.00 am start time from EYH with a favourable fairly strong tide to Cowes where some of us will meet on Friday. Please call Shepard’s Wharf on VHF channel 80 (or try Ch 69 or phone 01983 297821) for berthing instructions or look out for Badgie Two since they normally try to put us all together. There will be informal hospitality on board Badgie Two from 17.30 when people can decide whether to eat communally and, if so, where. There are a wide variety of eating and drinking places in Cowes at prices and tastes to suit all pockets and palates. In the recent past a bulk buy of fish and chips and eat on board has been popular.
Saturday 17th September HW Portsmouth BST 12.30 (4.9m)
A choice of instructions here; those who arrived on Friday may take the Red Jet ferry to Southampton where the Boat Show will be on, very close to the ferry terminal. Red Jet does a discounted combined crossing and Show entrance ticket. Or, do your own thing for the day.
For those who only take the week-end, this can be treated as an ordinary Saturday-Sunday out-and-back rally with just the one night stop in Cowes. The usual short drinks party will be held on Badgie Two at 17.30. Please bring some liquid refreshment but not too many nibbles, and be prepared to show off whatever you bought at the Show or just the brochures if that’s all you came away with. We have eaten at Mojac’s which all considered to be excellent and I have provisionally booked space. No website but a good selection. Small Starter Plates are typically £7, Large Main Plates between £14 (Homemade burger with trimmings) and £21 (Fillet Steak). We have also eaten in the Island Sailing Club and again I have provisionally booked space. Perhaps you would let me know your preference when registering interest in attending the rally and I will confirm our table at 7pm for 7.30pm at the most popular choice. Telephone me on 02392 426460 or email Derek.firstname.lastname@example.org. Otherwise, further eating and drinking as for Friday.
Sunday 18th September HW Portsmouth BST 13.10 (5.0m), SPRINGS
It should be an easy ride back to Emsworth aiming to be at the Chi bar by about noon to avoid the onset of the adverse tidal stream in the Solent and, since it is a big spring tide, too strong an adverse current on the way up the harbour to EYH, suggesting a departure at about 09.30 BST.
VHF Channel 16/08 while on board and awake. My MMSI is 235035554 and my mobile number is 07572 430145.
I look forward to seeing you!
Please register interest by 11th September via the the form below if you are thinking of coming, so I can book catering and let Shepards know the number of boats. Late comers welcome but no guarantee of a place at the table!
