ECA Late Spring Bank Holiday Rally- Wooton & Hamble 29-31 May 2010

Saturday 29 May HW Portsmouth 00:53 BST (4.6m) 13:25 BST (4.5m)
Another Neap Tide Bank Holiday Weekend, so with a weaker West going stream, and a bit more water under our keels, we return to the Isle of Wight mid south coast and the RVYC pontoons at Fishbourne.
This makes for a first Bank Holiday stopover easily reached in a single tide by all our members craft from 6m/20ft upwards, which is inexpensive, relatively uncrowded, with good facilities and food. Pleasant strolls along the beach or inland to the Priory lie to the east of the Ferry Terminal.
Do not impede the ferries in the main channel!
18:00 Drinks and nibbles on Tringa II followed by a meal at the Club, or on board as you wish.
Sunday 30 May HW Portsmouth 01:33 BST (4.6m) 14:06 BST (4.5m)
Another leisurely start to the day, with the prospect of a close reach across the Solent to the Hamble, Yottin’ Central itself, a complete contrast to Wooton Creek.
Follow the channel up to Hamble Point, then you weave your way through the Bank Holiday Sunday traffic and moorings on the river, up the Hamble beyond the Royal Southern YC, RAFYC and Port Hamble Marina, on the left bank lies the Mercury Yacht Harbour. (VHF Ch 80, phone; 02380 455 994).
When berthing, watch out for the strong tide/current flows through the pontoons here, particularly at half tides and after heavy rain inland.
There is a Marina restaurant and bar and Hamble-Le-Rice village is a 20-minute walk away.
18:00 Drinks and nibbles will need to be organised ad hoc, as Witch Hazel and Tringa II will be peeling off to the Western Solent to start for Old Gaffer Association and Southerly Regatta’s.
Monday 31 May HW Portsmouth 02:14 BST (4.4m) 14:48 BST (4.4m)
Return to homeports via a lunch stop at Cowes, Haslar, Priory Bay, or East Head according to weather, inclination, boat speed, Crew or Life’s demands.
