ECA Easter Cruise To Lymington, Poole & Yarmouth 2nd – 5th April 2010

If she’s been ashore this winter the chances are that your boat will have just gone back in. Now is the time to get both her and her crew ship shape and fully prepared for the new season, and what better way of doing so than by putting some miles under the keel with our Easter Cruise.
As we planned to this time last year, the ECA is intending to get out of the Solent and visit distant shores… well, Poole at least, calling into Lymington on the way and Yarmouth on the return.
Emsworth to Lymington (30nm)
Friday 2 April 2010 HW Portsmouth BST 02:16 (4.9m) & 14:41 (4.7m)
Depart our various home ports and take the ebb down to Lymington where we are booked onto the Dan Bran pontoon, giving us easy access to water, power, meals and showers at the Lymington Town Yacht Club. No planned activities for the evening so dine aboard or ashore as you wish.
Lymington to Poole (20nm)
Saturday 3 April 2010 HW Portsmouth BST 03:00 (4.6m) & 15:27 (4.5m)
LW Poole Bridge BST 07:34 (0.9m) & 19:52 (1.1m)
A morning’s R & R in Lymington and time to brief anybody who is new to this end of the Solent, prior to carrying on westwards from here, if they so wish. The ebb will start to run out through the Hurst Narrows at about 14:30 BST. We’re booked into the Poole Yacht Club subject to their berths being free, but failing that there is the Poole Quay Boat Haven with its close proximity to all of Poole’s attractions (hmmmm?). Drinks and nibbles will be served on Kotka at 17:30 from where we can disperse to any of several eateries or the one good real ale pub I know of.
Poole to Yarmouth (20nm)
Sunday 4 April 2010 HW Portsmouth BST 03:43 (4.4 m) & 16:12 (4.2m)
LW Poole Bridge BST 08:18 (1.1 m) & 20:38 (1.3m)
Back to the Solent – the flood commences its easterly flow at about 08:30 BST and runs up through the Hurst Narrows until about 1330 GMT. We’re booked into the Harold Hayles pontoon just in front of the road bridge where a further round of the ECA’s traditional drinks and nibbles will be served on Tringa II at 17:30 by Dick and Alice. As with Poole, the options are various restaurants and pubs thereafter – we recommend the King’s Head.
Yarmouth to Emsworth (30nm)
Monday 5 April 2010 HW Portsmouth BST 04:27 (4.1m) & 17:01 (4.0m)
And so to home.
