ECA Beaulieu River Rally and Barbecue: 24th/25th July 2010
Although this event was previously scheduled for the weekend 17th/18th July, please may I draw your attention to the change in dates from the published programme.
| Saturday 24 July | HW Portsmouth BST | 11:19 (4.3m) & 23:29 (4.4m) |
| LW Portsmouth BST | 16:39 (1.5m) | |
| Our destination is the relatively new mid-river pontoons just upstream from Bucklers Hard Marina, where some six places have been booked for the ECA. Charted depth at the entrance to the river Beaulieu is approximately 1.1m, so you need to time your arrival to suit your draft. Should you require shore access or a swinging mooring please contact the Harbour Master direct on 01590 616200. | ||
| For boats in EYH, high water offers a convenient departure time for a bit of rest and relaxation on arrival before the usual party. Please bring a bottle, and if possible a few nibbles. Some of you may remember our Westerly Fulmar “Snowbird”, well we now have a very diminutive version called “Snowchick”, so may need some help providing shelter if it’s wet! On this occasion we will start with drinks on the pontoon at 17:30, followed by a short trip to the permanent barbecue located by the Hard and reserved in our name. Please bring food of your choice to cook and something to drink. Alternatively the nearby pub runs a “pay barbecue” where you can have your meat burnt professionally. | ||
| A dinghy will be needed to get ashore for the barbecue, toilets and excellent showers, but I’m sure some sharing will be possible. | ||
| Sunday 25 July | HW Portsmouth BST | 12:02 (4.4m) |
| There a two possibilities for those returning to EYH, set off about 08:30 to catch the sill at high water, or depending on the weather, stay for the day, then return to Emsworth and enter the Yacht Harbour as soon as the late tide serves. There are some lovely walks in the area, interesting buildings, the Bucklers Hard museum and at a stretch the Beaulieu Motor museum. | ||
